POWERSCREEN GROWING FROM STRENGTH-TO- STRENGTH
With over 60 years of global innovation and nearly 30 years of strong local partnership, Powerscreen, together with its exclusive southern African distributor ELB Equipment, remains an undisputed leader in mobile crushing, screening and conveying solutions.
Through the strength of this long-term alliance, ELB Equipment has helped cement Powerscreen’ s position as a preferred choice across the region where it now commands an estimated 50 % to 60 % market share in mobile crushing and screening equipment. This success is built on the quality and adaptability of Powerscreen’ s machines and on ELB Equipment’ s dependable application support and aftersales service network.
Powerscreen’ s machines are renowned for their easy-to-operate functionality and quality with a proven track record in harsh African environments. Whether processing blasted rock at mine sites, producing aggregates for civil engineering projects or screening organic waste for composting, these machines consistently deliver high output and cost-efficiency.
According to Wakefield Harding, divisional director and Heath Dickson, mining product application manager at ELB Equipment, the reason behind Powerscreen’ s dominance in the region lies in the strength of the partnership between the two companies.“ Our success has come from the synergy between top-class machinery and local technical support that understands the needs of African operations. Our deep product knowledge, quick access to spares and national support footprint ensure that our customers always stay productive.”
“ We offer one of the broadest Powerscreen ranges globally that spans from entry-level scalping screens for agricultural and sand applications to high-capacity cone crushers and jaw crushers for heavy-duty mining operations. This allows customers to scale up or down without switching suppliers or compromising on support.
Importantly, ELB Equipment also boasts the largest in-country inventory of mobile crushing and screening equipment, giving customers fast access to machines and minimal waiting periods which can be a critical advantage in industries where downtime directly impacts profitability.
“ Our reach includes eight full-service branches and three dedicated parts hubs across South Africa to ensure high-quality service from Witbank to Cape Town, Rustenburg to Gqeberha. It allows our technical teams to deliver site-based support with fast parts turnaround times and hands-on commissioning and training – often on short notice.
“ We’ ve built a customer-first support model where our application specialists consult directly with customers to size machines correctly, optimise process flow and provide operator training to ensure the best performance,” says Harding.
He adds that recent additions to the Powerscreen line-up reflect a continued commitment to technological leadership. An example is the new Powerscreen Chieftain 1700X, with its innovative triple-deck four-bearing screenbox which offers enhanced throughput and also allows the direction of the screenbox to be reversed in sticky or unpredictable feed conditions.
Similarly, the Powerscreen Premiertrak 450 jaw crusher delivers massive power and efficiency, with up to 500Nm crushing strength – making it ideal for the hardest rock applications in southern Africa’ s mines and quarries.
In line with its“ Future Now, Future Next” growth strategy ELB Equipment is also expanding its offering through equipment partnerships with LiuGong( earthmoving and construction solutions) and Furukawa( rock drilling). These partnerships complement its mobile processing expertise and allows customers to access integrated production solutions from pit to plant.
The company also offers customised finance solutions, service contracts and full maintenance agreements that are tailored to provide predictable costs and uptime.
“ Customers are increasingly looking for full solutions and as a result we understand that we don’ t just supply equipment we deliver lifecycle value. Whether a customer needs to reduce costs per tonne, maximise output or switch between material types our teams can assist,” adds Dickson.
In recognition of its world-class performance and customer-first philosophy, ELB Equipment was recently awarded Powerscreen’ s Regional Dealer of the Year which is a testament to the strength of this long-standing partnership.
“ We’ re proud of the recognition and even prouder of what we’ ve achieved with our customers,” concludes Harding.“ Three decades on, our foundation with Powerscreen is stronger than ever and we’ re ready to help the next generation of projects to succeed.”
