For horses that were treated with cisplatin beads, 60%
of animals with MC-SCC were cured after 2 years (Hewes
and Sullins 2006). In general, 3 applications of cisplatin
beads at one month intervals are recommended for
treatment of MC-SCC (Hewes and Sullins 2009). These
data suggest that both forms of cisplatin are effective
adjunctive therapies for treatment of MC-SCC, with
most treatments performed after surgical debulking.
