Equine Health Update EHU Vol 21 Issue 03 | Page 5

You always walk away sorry that you had to forgo a few talks of interest. One of the primary reasons for going to BEVA is to attend the International Equine veterinarians (IEVAP) meeting. This meeting has steadily grown in statute of the last few years. Some 10 years ago when I attended only 4-5 international equine presidents attended. This year I counted 18. For the first time there were representatives there from China. I am always surprised that there are some many common areas of concern in the veterinary profession. This year antibiotic resistance and encouraging younger veterinarians to join/remain in the profession were once again spoken about at length. As always, I would like to thank V-tech for the sponsorship of an aeroplane ticket to assist in getting to Birmingham. Whilst in Birmingham I also meet with Mark Johnson the founder member of Vetstream. He is the founder of Vetstream the online veterinary encyclopedia of which Saeva is a member. He informed me that 20 % of Saeva members have taken up the membership offer. I think this is a good percentage but obviously we would like to get more members registered on the system. IT IS A FREE BENEFIT TO MEMBERS so for those of you that have not registered please go ahead and register. Vetstream has advised me that they have rewritten the home landing page to make it easier to register. Please note no payment is required. For those of you that have registered Vetstream and the committee would love some feedback on your thoughts and suggested addition that can be made. To end off Congress 2020 registration is now open. It will be held in Skukuza rest camp again. So, it will be another great Kruger congress. Please register ASAP as it very difficult to guarantee accommodation in the park so it will be on a first come first serve basis. Registration is available through the website. This year promises to be as good as every other year. The main speakers for this year are Pam Wilkins (medicine) and Evita Busschers (Surgery and sports medicine). Look forward to seeing you all there. • Volume 21 Issue 3 | September 2019 • 5
