Welcome to the third edition of the EHU for 2019.
We are fortunate for this edition to have two CPD articles.
Our first CPD article on Equine Sarcoids comes from SAEVAs association with Vetstream Ltd. and the Vetlexicon
Equis online resource. The article gives a great outline of our current knowledge on sarcoids. Interesting areas are
the genetic susceptibility of individuals to developing sarcoids and their importance at pre purchase examinations.
If you haven’t already registered for Vetlexicon Equis please remember that it is free to SAEVA members and is a
fantastic online resource.
The second CPD article for this EHU which is again provided by IMV Imaging. IMV do a tremendous job
distributing educational material to equine veterinarians. For this edition they have provided a nice concise article
on equine abdominal ultrasound for colic patients. Equine veterinarians have access to much better ultrasound
machines and with a little practice and knowledge we can really use abdominal ultrasound to help in colic
patient management and decision making.
The Equine Disease Quaterly gives the usual review of recent infectious diseases worldwide with African Horse
Sickness and Equine Influenza receiving some attention.. In addition there is a really good review of changing
trends in Equine Reproduction(interesting even if you are not involved in reproduction work).
