CONGRESS FEEDBACK SAEVA CONGRESS 2019 The 52nd Annual SAEVA congress took place at the Coastlands Hotel and Conference Centre in Umhlanga, KZN from 22nd-25th February. The hotel itself is on Umhlanga Ridge and being a city based venue it was a bit of a different vibe to the type of venues SAEVA members are used to. On first impressions approaching the hotel, it looks like a strange retro-elevated box-like structure and you wonder who chose this place! At the end of the event you realise this really has been a great venue for the SAEVA congress. The conference facilities were excellent and the proximity to the trade hall made this a great fit for the trade show. The roof-top venue with wrap-around verandas and panoramic views of the Durban north skyline proved to be a fantastic location for the Gala Dinner on the final night. As usual, the SAEVA Congress organising committee put together a top-class line-up of overseas speakers, who were backed up by some excellent local speakers. The overseas speakers included: International Speakers (left to right): Joe Collins, Jessica Kidd, Thilo Pfau, Steve O’Grady, Lee Morris 12 • Dr Jessica Kidd – a specialist in equine surgery from the UK • Dr Lee Morris – a specialist in veterinary reproduction form New Zealand • Dr Steve O’Grady – international Equine Hall of Fame veterinarian who is also a professional farrier. • Thilo Pfau – lecturer in bio-engineering in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, RVC with a special interest in applied locomotor biomechanics and objective quantification of movement anomalies • Dr Joe Collins from the Donkey Sanctuary in Ireland • Equine Health Update •
