Equine piroplasmosis
Piroplasmosis occurred sporadically throughout the country, although most (32 cases) were reported from
Pretoria.

Other special mentions and interesting logs
EHV1 was reported from 5 municipalities, with a single outbreak of 10 cases (1 abortion and the remaining
pyrexic) in the Steve Tshwete municipality in Mpumalanga. 49 cases of Gastrodiscus infestation were reported
from the Cape Peninsula. These occurred between August and October, and the vets involved reported locations
of cases in Hout Bay, Constantia, Noordhoek and Tokai. Four cases of Puff Adder bites were reported from the
Overberg region of the Western Cape.
