SAEVA Congress 2019

On the 21st of February this year, Theunis and I (outgoing Chairman and Incoming chairman) travelled down to the
Coastlands Hotel in Umhlanga a day earlier than our fellow colleagues to attend the ExCo meeting for SEAVA. It was
fantastic to be welcomed into the parent body with open arms and allowed to get a better understanding of the
inner workings of the Association, as well as the achievements of the previous year and the plans going forward.
Vetlink invited us to join the Welcoming Cocktail Party,
allowing us to meet and socialise with various industry
players. The 22nd began with a very early flight for the
rest of our colleagues, with them arriving early in the
morning before the first lecture. Meeting the 13 of them
in reception, seeing all their excitement on their faces
was truly wondering as I knew what a fantastic few days
lay ahead for them.
SAEVA had managed to secure excellent professions,
both international and local, to present at the 2019
congress. Leaders in their fields, these experts presented
all day with riveting procedures and knowledge.
Personally, it was surreal to be in a lecture with Jessica Kidd, Steve O’Grady or Lee Morris. At times there were parallel
sessions taking place, which really left us spoilt for choice and resulting in bargaining with students to get each
