British Riding Club members out in force at the NAF Festival of the Horse 1st - 2nd June 2013

The British Riding Clubs Festival of the Horse, sponsored by NAF, took place on 1-2 June at Aston-le-Walls near Daventry, Northamptonshire, with attendants treated to blue skies and sunshine throughout the weekend. The event included the Senior Challenge, Junior Challenge and Combined competitions, as well as a wide range of showing classes. The Senior Challenge 100 Team class was won by Kings Leaze RC from Gloucestershire. The team comprised Lizzy Poole, Elaine Chamberlain, Dawn Richardson and Samantha Kellett. The Individual title went to Stefanie Brewington riding Tajoem P from Ingatestone and Blackmore RC. Blidworth Equestrian RC, from Nottingham, were victorious in the Senior Challenge 90 team competition. The team comprised Kate Beaumont, Carole Rudkin, Julia Wilkinson and Amelia Murray. Kate Beaumont and daughter, Amelia Murray from Blidworth Equestrian RC added to their Senior Challenge 90 team victory with a further triumph in the Senior Pairs Challenge 90 event. This class is always a favourite with spectators as the pairs complete the change-over and then race off onto the crosscountry course together. The Junior Pairs Challenge 90 was won by Harrison Oakley riding Copper and Flora Fraser riding Sapphire from Sid and Otter Valley RC in Devon. The Junior Challenge 100 team class was won by Cropthorne and Evesham Vale RC’s Daisy Wheeler, Ellie Coldicott, Annie Hall and Ross Paxton. Individual honours went to Emma Furmston riding Sportsfield Little General representing Macclesfield and District RC from Cheshire. Blackdown Mendip RC, from Bristol, were victorious in the Junior Challenge 90 Team class. The team was made up of Emily Mugford, Zoe O’Grady, Holly Bluck and Anna Waugh. Isabel BaileyCollins representing Surrey’s Elstead RC took the Individual title. The Combined competition ran over the weekend for both the seniors and juniors. The Senior Team victory went to Rother Valley Riding Club in East Sussex represented by Edie PenderCudlip, Laura Craner, Gabi Pitman and Rachael Lloyd. Gail Yeandle with Ragtime Suzie riding for Rutland RC triumphed in the Senior Individual Combined event.

In the Junior Combined Team competition, Sid and Otter Valley RC were again victorious with Flora Fraser, Harrison Oakley, Cameron Beer senior combined Gail Yeandle with and Imogen Carter Ragtime Suzie riding for Rutland RC taking the honours for the Devonshire-based team. The Club narrowly missed out on yet another title, as they were pipped to the post for the hotly contested Junior Individual title by Rebecca Slade riding Marlow for Sevenoaks Riding Club in Kent.
