RHP Eventing Catch Up Photos kindly supplied www.rhpeventing.com Wow.... where is this year going? I can’t believe it’s nearly the end of the eventing season already and we are looking to buckle down over winter for some indoor Show Jumping and dressage and maybe some hunting thrown in for a good measure of fun. 2013 is proving to be a much more productive season than last year, we haven’t had event after event cancelled and so far we have completed every single one we have entered. You may remember from my reports last year, our time faults were really our nemesis. This year we have gone back to Tina Canton (Tinderbox Sport Horses) for our training and she has helped us both come on in leaps and bounds and we have been managing to attack the cross country phase a lot better than in the past. Tina has given me the confidence that I need to get kicking and to trust Twizzy that she can think quickly enough for what I’m asking of her. Unfortunately as I write this, everything hasn’t quite come together on the day at BE yet to net a win, never mind a place, but last month Twizzy and I competed at the Belvoir Pony Club Open ODE at Buckminster and had a very good run indeed. We led the dressage on a very impressive score of 25.6 and Twizzy pinged her way round over the jumps to come home just one second over the optimum time to win by a massive margin of 10 penalty points. I’m hoping that one day we will be able to pull something like this out of the bag on the day of a BE Event! Even though we haven’t been placed at BE this year we have had some very good runs, with 4 double clears at Novice and our time faults getting better each time we are most certainly going in the right direction. gear and experience we have gained this year we are in with a good chance of getting a place this year, or at least doing a lot better than last year and getting round. We shall most certainly be practicing lots of dodgy lines at home before the day. I have of course got plans and aims for the rest of the season, but if I put them down in writing I feel like I’m tempting fate a little bit too much, so I shall continue to dream about them in my head until the day they happen, you will get to find out about them if you follow us on Twitter (@ rhpeventing) as I’m sure they will turn in to a running commentary when they happen as they are rather exciting. Until next time. Rachel Poyser x We haven’t just been eventing here at RHP Eventing. Twizzy has qualified for both the Intermediate and the Open at Vale View’s arena eventing, I’m hoping with our new found 52 www.equestrianlifemagazine.co.uk EL-SEPT13-S4.indd 52 22/08/2013 22:43:11
