Accord’s vision is to be a strong, diverse organisation,
delivering positive outcomes to improve life chances
for customers and wider communities. We aim to make
equality & fairness something we live by, recruit by and
measure by. It is part of our moral compass.
Our approach to equality and fairness is:
• Driven from the top
• Informing our business planning
• Shaping our organisational culture
• Supported through staff training, development
and engagement
Our Strategic Aims
• Part of knowing who our customers are
• Involving our customers in shaping and
scrutinizing services
• Ensuring we represent and support the
communities who we serve
Better Business
Diverse teams bring different talents, can spot new
markets and help build innovation in service-delivery,
responding to the changing demographic of our
customers and communities
Legal & Regulatory
The Equality Act 2010 sets out nine protected
characteristics. The Public Sector Equality Duty requires
us to give ‘due regard’ to the need to eliminate unlawful
discrimination and harassment, promote equality of
opportunity and foster good relations and positive
attitudes. The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH), expects
housing associations to understand and respond to
the diverse needs of their customers, as outlined in the
Tenant Involvement and Empowerment Standard.
