Accord Equality & Fairness Report 2020
Case study
Birmingham’s
Community
Ambassadors
Programme
Together the National Lottery and the Department of
Culture, Media and Sport invested funding to create
the #iwill Fund. Led by Clarion Futures, The Housing
Association Youth Network (HAYN) Volunteering
Academy received a grant from the #iwill Fund to make
involvement in social action projects a part of life for
young people, realising the benefits for them and their
communities.
In early 2019, Accord and the Birmingham Social
Housing Partnership (BSHP) secured funding from
this fund, to engage young people aged 11-25 as
Community Ambassadors to help get the city of
Birmingham “Commonwealth Games-ready”. The project
aims to engage Ambassadors to deliver a series of
activities and events that will support Birmingham to
be “commonwealth games-ready”. This includes the
development of a toolkit that will assist Birmingham
communities to sustain the success from the
programme.
