In September of 2018 , the Regeneration Department
of Accord recruited a graduate to embark on a
development training programme that would see
them work as part of the team and be fast-tracked into
the role of Regeneration manager within 3 years of
appointment. Halisha Kaur has been in post now for
just over 18 months and here is her story:
Halisha Kaur
Senior Regeneration Officer
Hey, I’m Halisha! I am a
very strong believer that
“in a fair society, every person has an equal
opportunity” – and that’s exactly what brought me to
Accord… Every day we have the potential to change an
individual’s life for the better.
the construction industry. My
passion for raising awareness
and attracting young people
into the industry has continued
through my partnering with two
trainees at Citizen Housing to form

people in construction.
I aspire to continue climbing the

hope to make a larger impact
and contribution to the positive
outcomes of the Affordable
Housing Sector.
I came to Accord fresh out of university in September
2018 as a Graduate Trainee on the Regeneration
Graduate Programme. I am now a Regeneration Officer,
which involves me managing various sites across the
Black Country with both our in-house construction team
and LoCal Homes factory, as well as external developers;
watching derelict sites blossom into amazing homes.
As well as learning on the job I have continued with
my studies, and I am currently building up a portfolio
and fulfilling specific competencies to achieve my
RICS qualification. Within the first 6 months of starting
my job, I had also achieved the Prince2 Foundation
qualification.
I play an active role in multiple working groups within
the organisation, as well as sit on the staff voices
panel and chair the Accord 2020 Futures Group. I also
represent Accord through the Careers & Enterprise
Company by acting as an enterprise advisor at a
local school, which has given me the opportunity to
inspire and guide numerous sixth form students into
