Stonewall Diversity Champion
In 2019 we agreed to re-join Stonewall as one of their Diversity Champions
and Stonewall met with colleagues on the Equality and Fairness and Equality
Group to go through the support that they can provide to us in ensuring that
our policies and procedures are as inclusive as possible.
Wolverhampton LBGT Alliance
We are also members of the Wolverhampton LGBT Alliance which
promotes inclusivity and specifically looks at businesses and services in
Wolverhampton and the surrounding area.
To support work in this area we have developed and delivered LGBTQ+ -
specific training for Care and Support colleagues
The objectives of this training were to:
• Give an awareness of the history of LGBTQ+
• Share some of the experiences of people who identify as LGBTQ+ within
the Care sector
• Provide details on the rights of customers who identify as LGBTQ+
• Give colleagues an understanding and some examples of how to tailor
services to meet the needs of customers who identify as LGBTQ+
The training was rolled out to all schemes and was a great success. The
knowledge test at the end was also in a “Blockbusters” format, enabling the
small teams to engage and have some fun whilst also learning about LGBTQ+
and how they can assist any customers who may identify as LGBTQ+.
