• Walkers / Bikes / Skateboards o If crossing Raffia Rd ., please utilize the cross walk directly out front of the school . This is where our crossing guard is located . o All bikes , unicycles , skateboards , moon boots , hover boards , wheelie shoes , pogo sticks must be walked while on school grounds . o Morning drop-off : if faced with inclement weather , students will enter the main office entrance and wait in the cafeteria until the 7:41 bell rings .
• Busing Students o Bus Stops and Times ( click HERE ) o If there is an emergency and your child is required to take a different bus home , please call , or email your child ’ s house office to communicate this change . We have set rosters for our buses and kindly request that this is only utilized out of necessity . o Apart from the yellow wing , main office , and white wing students must exit the wing where they are located at the end of the school day . Example , if a student ’ s seventh period class is in blue wing , they must exit blue at the end of the school day . o At dismissal , your child ’ s bus will be waiting in the same vicinity daily . We will review this information with them . At 2:36 the bus dismissal bell will sound – students have five minutes to board their bus . We have walked these routes and it is more than enough time . We enforce a five-minute rule as students tend to linger to socialize rather than make their way to the bus . When this occurs , we end up waiting for students who in turn hold up the entire dismissal process . Our five-minute dismissal will not be enforced for the first week of school to allow students time to adjust to this routine .
Student Specific
Cell Phones
• Cell phones / air pods are not permitted to be out while students are at JFK . Students are asked to keep these items secure in their locker . Placing these items in a secure locker ensures they are not lost , stolen , or creating a distraction . If students do not comply with this request and have the cell phone out , they will be asked to relinquish the device .
Lockers
• All students will receive a locker . We will review locker operations with students on the first days of school . Students are instructed not to share their locker combination with any other students . All cell phones and backpacks must remain in your child ’ s locker for the duration of the school day . We provide a secure place to lock and store the device while our students are engaged in the learning process . Our classrooms are a sacred space where cell phones are not necessary – they create a distraction and discourage undivided attention . The middle school years are pivotal ; please support us with this expectation .
• Students may visit their lockers between periods 6 and 7 to retrieve their items . We allow students to have backpacks for period 7 as they are dismissed for the day from this last period class .
Dress Expectation
• Clothing must be school appropriate . Our expectations and other important rules are in our handbook . You can access the handbook on the left sidebar on our homepage . Our dress expectations are not gender specific – they apply to ALL students . We ask for your
