JFK School Community ,
Good afternoon , we hope our September newsletter finds you doing well . As we enter our first week of school , we want to touch base with important information and finalized procedures . Our first days are focused upon acclimating students with their routines and providing a better understanding of all that JFK has to offer them .
During the first week of school , we will facilitate grade-level meetings to review our school expectations with students . You are welcome to review these topics HERE . Student conduct throughout the school year will determine participation in our end-of-year activities . If a student elects to bring violence ( physical altercations / fighting ) into our school community , they will lose all end-of-year privileges . We have an effective school counseling department and support personnel available to mitigate and mediate student issues . In our presentation , we will delve into student “ choice ” when handling contentious situations in a dignified and respectful manner . Our goal is to develop your child ’ s skill set when it comes to self-regulation and peer mediation . By imparting them with the necessary tools , students are better prepared to handle adversity in stride . This work starts with removing violence as an option and instead focusing on positive peer-to-peer interactions and effective relationship building strategies .
