Challenge your best friend or work buddy who have similar
goals. Have them on your favorites list on your phone
and when you wake up early to exercise or have your first
meal, call them. They might still be sleeping but you both
accepted to do anything to accomplish your goals. Try to
go to the gym together and motivate each other. One day
your buddy beats you by doing more weight on the chest
press but you beat them on the leg press. Now, each of
you has a weak point and something to continuously work
harder on.
Last but not least, break down your goal into small
objectives in order to see faster results. Let us take again
the weight loss example to explain this. You want to lose
20 pounds, but losing weight might be something new for
you. Your short-term goal should be to lose between 1.5
to 2 pounds per month. If you lose more per month then
that already is a plus and easy motivation for you to keep
on working hard. The idea is that when you see 20 it might
look like a big number and therefore hard to attain, but
when you see 1.5 or 2 it seems more realistic even though
is it the same in the long run.
So, what are you going to do this year? Are you going to
follow the crowd or are you going to be the role model for
others next year? It is your decision, but remember that
only you have the power to control your actions. Hope
