At the latest Hopkins School Board meeting on Oct. 21, the board heard a transportation update from Superintendent Rhoda Mhiripiri-Reed as well as other administrative staff members.

The 2026 legislative session begins in February, but Minnesota state legislators have already received over $ 2.7 billion in local government funding requests. A tentative bonding budget is $ 1.1 billion.
Both Senate and House committees are touring the state and examining the infrastructure
busing from the district. After a variety of community members voiced their challenging experiences, all who attended or listened were told an update would follow.
Moving forward, the district will review the policy, exhaust transportation options, conduct requests in person. From Oct. 28 to Oct. 30, Sen. Sandy Pappas( DFL-St. Paul), chair of the Capital Improvement Committee, along with a few other senators, toured over 30 locations in the metro.
Among the requests is $ 7.9 million for investing in redevelopment in St. Louis Park. City officials in Plymouth have several asks, including the expansion of its hockey arena and stormwater ponding, which total $ 26 million.
