The patient aids sub-sector has the presence of a wide range of players as they cover various
different products. Some of the prominent local and international players include Johnson
Medical International, St Jude Medicals, Ambu, and GN Resound.
2.1.5 Other Medical Devices
Other medical devices include medical devices and supporting equipments like wheelchairs,
ophthalmic instruments, hospital furniture, dental chairs, medical and surgical sterilisers, ultra-
violet or infra-red ray apparatus.
The market of other medical devices recorded a positive CAGR of 4.7% between 2010 to 2015,
albeit at a slower pace when compared to the other sub-sectors. Moving forward, for the forecast
period between 2015 to 2020, the CAGR is expected to increase by 3.3% to 8.0%. The
construction of new hospitals both in the public and private sector helps grow the demand for
hospital furnitures, ophthalmic instruments and other related appliances. Another visible trend
is the increase in demand for both mechanical and non-mechanical wheelchairs.
