Although the numbers presented in this section is not recommended to be extrapolated to reflect the whole industry, the results can still serve as indication) In terms of the breakdown by geographical region, most of the new full time positions expected to be created in central Malaysia between January to December 2017 are for science and engineering associate professionals, followed by stationary plant and machine operators at 10%. In northern Malaysia, 36% of the new positions will be created for assemblers within the same period, 10% for metal, machinery and related trades workers, 9% for science and engineering professionals and 9% for manufacturing and transport labourers. In southern Malaysia, the top three job category with the highest number of new positions to be created are assemblers at 25%, drivers and mobile plant operators at 19%, and sales workers at 9%. The ratio of new positions to be created in relation to existing workforce needs in the region for sales workers is 25%, which is relatively high. 136
