3.1.7 Skill Gaps of Entry Level Employees
Among companies that hired entry-level employees (<2 years of working experience) in 2016,
majority of them across all three industry segments feel that problem solving skill is the main
skill gap among these employees. 80% of the surgical/medical gloves manufacturers also find
that the entry-level employees lack the ability to communicate well and to think creatively
and innovatively. Ability to work independently is another key issue among entry-level
employees in other medical consumables segment, while non-consumables companies find
that the entry level employees are lacking in communication skills and technical skills (e.g.
medical knowledge, CNC programming and machining).
