In terms of the breakdown by geographical region, the vacancies available in central Malaysia as of December 2016 were mainly for semi-skilled jobs, which 31 % are for assemblers, 27 % for stationary plant and machine operators and 8 % for sales workers. The ratio of vacancies in relation to the total workforce needs for assemblers and sales workers were relatively high in the central region, with 15 % and 19 % respectively.
In northern Malaysia, the top two job category with the highest vacancies were similarly stationary plant and machine operators at 32 % and assemblers at 31 %, followed by science and engineering professionals at 7 %. The ratio of vacancies in relation to total workforce needs for these three job categories in the region were within an acceptable range.
In southern Malaysia, 73 % of the vacancies were for stationary plant and machine operators, the job category which made up more than half of the workforce in region. Drivers and mobile plant operators contributed to another 20 % of the vacancies, and its ratio of vacancies in relation to total workforce needs in the region is relatively high( 18 %).
