Objective
Objective
To monitor and reduce the release of Scope 1 Greenhouse Gas emissions
associated with University Owned Vehicles.
To establish and maintain an externally accredited Environmental
Management System and comply with all relevant environmental
legislation and other requirements.
Targets
To monitor and reduce the release of Scope 3 Greenhouse Gas emissions
associated with staff and student travel
• Maintain Phase 3 accreditation of the BS 8555 Acorn Scheme
• 100% legal compliance at all times

• We will improve operational procedures for all activities affected by
environmental legislation

Increase car sharers by 10% annually
• Review our current Fleet and consider introducing more electric
vehicles
• We will create and promote a comprehensive Green Travel Plan;
utilising feedback from staff and student travel surveys
• We will ensure bicycle use is encouraged by providing free monthly
bicycle maintenance checks and cycle facilities
• We will promote sustainable transport by hosting events such cycle
to work days
• We will consider introducing staff electric vehicle charging points
We will achieve the above actions by November 2015.
However the green travel plan will take longer to develop
(September 2016).
