Construction and Refurbishment Biodiversity Objective The University campus features a rich variety of fauna and flora. However, we can improve biodiversity further by looking for viable opportunities to enhance the number and abundance of existing and new appropriate species, to secure their long-term future within the Estate and to increase the use of the campus within our educational programmes and research. To improve the sustainability of University buildings across campus by minimising their carbon footprint and use of resources. Targets • All new buildings and major refurbishments to meet BREEAM, very good or equivalent Action • We will specify low-energy design features and services in our design briefs, for both new build and refurbishment projects Objective To monitor and enhance the biodiversity of the University campus, improving the provision of habitats and protecting sensitive species.
