FACTORIES
Air pollution is caused by many factors. However, factories alone play an
extremely big role in causing air pollution. In fact, industrial pollution is one of the
primary sources of environmental contamination. According to the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), air pollution levels rose 14 percent from
1990 to 2008 because of the increase of number of factories. There are many
ways in which factories pollute the air. To start with, fossil fuels’ emissions include
carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Combustion creates these toxic
pollutants. Although all of these are naturallyoccurring substances, the high levels
of their emissions are what are of concern. Industrial processes also emit
manmade emissions, for instance fluorinecontaining gases such as hydro
fluorocarbons.
