By the age of 16, his undeniable talent would have him become a critical part to the Roc-AFella dynasty’s domination at the new millennium - Neef Buck and his childhood friend from age of 12, Young Chris, would form the Grammy Award-nominated rap duo Young Gunz; and Neef would also become part of the collective State Property (founded by fellow Philly-native Beanie Siegel) including Siegel himself, Freeway, Oschino & Sparks, and Peedi Crack amongst others. Roc-A-Fella Records and its influence would assist continued on page 47 featured artists in crafting the Young Gunners to create music like “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop”, one of many chart-shaking singles from the Young Gunz’ debut album Tough Luv released in 2004; bringing the rap duo to the forefront attention of the streets and clinching the #3 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 list. In 2005, the duo released their second (and final) project under Roc-A-Fella/ Def Jam, titled Brothers from Another - clinching the #15 spot in its first week on Billboards charts. By 2008, Young Gunz had formed their independent label, Young Gunz Media/Koch Records; releasing independent projects like Rapid Fire, Get In Where You Fit In, and the Back To Business mixtape Hosted by Don Cannon. Collectively, the duo’s work had garnered much respect from the streets, and musical tutelage under the likes of Jay Z, Dame Dash, Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Bangladesh, Chad Hamilton, Scott Storch, and countless other music business.Their persistence to furthering growth would soon have the duo begin work on solo projects of their own to build individual brands. Today, Neef’s sonically artistic-genius can be heard from his own record label (GIFI Records) where he’s currently gearing to catapult the seventh installment of his street-legendary mixtape series called Forever Do Me (which includes features from Young Chris, Freeway, Reddi Roc, Peedi Crakk, members of State Property, and other Philly artists). His fan base, spanning dedicated to his life journeys written in between the lines of his skilled production. Neef’s latest performances have entertained hundreds of thousands - including the 7th Annual Roots Festival (Philadelphia), and the Firefly Music Festival (Delaware).
