A product of the Philadelphia public
school system, her path to becoming
educated was radically different than that
of Jacqueline Rocco. Elizabeth Pettus
comes from a strong African American
family with deep religious ties. Her father
an ordained minister and her mother an
Accountant saw education differently. Her
father was strong on educating people
about Godly principles and serving others, while her mother wanted her children

Elizabeth, while being frustrated with her
earlier years of schooling experience,
she graduate from high school and
immediately applied to a three (3) year
trade school was accepted. However,
life happened and she was not able to
start as planned. After doing entry level
work for nearly fifteen years (15) years,
she quickly learned that in order for her
to become successful in life she had
to go back to school. At thirty (30) she
made the decision to go back to school,
however, she struggled with applying to
a four (4) year college with people who
were 10-12 years younger than her. To
balance the age difference she enrolled
in Dedicated Placement Training (DPT)
School, where she found students like
herself who also struggled with making
the decision to attend a four year college.
At DPT, she majored in Computerized
Business Accounting, graduated with a
4.0, and named Valedictorian. This gave
her the drive and determination to continue her education and becoming a life-long
learner who is passionate about empowering, educating, and training others to be
successful early on in life.
Her world opened up after graduating
from DPT, landing a job with Communities In Schools of Philadelphia (CIS) as
a program specialist and administrative
assistant for the ELECT program, which
helped to provided educational and
parenting resources to teen moms and
dads. Later taking a job with the School
District of Philadelphia (SDP) working in
The Office of Early Childhood, Research
and Accountability, Academic Regional Division Six (6), Office of Associate
Superintendent of Academics and now
the Vice President of EduGroup of PA.
Elizabeth believes that success involves
