She also holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Eastern University (EU) PA, and Associate Degree in Business Accounting from Strayer University, PA. A product of the Philadelphia public school system, her path to becoming educated was radically different than that of Jacqueline Rocco. Elizabeth Pettus comes from a strong African American family with deep religious ties. Her father an ordained minister and her mother an Accountant saw education differently. Her father was strong on educating people about Godly principles and serving others, while her mother wanted her children to have the best of both worlds, that is, education in Godly principles and a solid Elizabeth, while being frustrated with her earlier years of schooling experience, she graduate from high school and immediately applied to a three (3) year trade school was accepted. However, life happened and she was not able to start as planned. After doing entry level work for nearly fifteen years (15) years, she quickly learned that in order for her to become successful in life she had to go back to school. At thirty (30) she made the decision to go back to school, however, she struggled with applying to a four (4) year college with people who were 10-12 years younger than her. To balance the age difference she enrolled in Dedicated Placement Training (DPT) School, where she found students like herself who also struggled with making the decision to attend a four year college. At DPT, she majored in Computerized Business Accounting, graduated with a 4.0, and named Valedictorian. This gave her the drive and determination to continue her education and becoming a life-long learner who is passionate about empowering, educating, and training others to be successful early on in life. Her world opened up after graduating from DPT, landing a job with Communities In Schools of Philadelphia (CIS) as a program specialist and administrative assistant for the ELECT program, which helped to provided educational and parenting resources to teen moms and dads. Later taking a job with the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) working in The Office of Early Childhood, Research and Accountability, Academic Regional Division Six (6), Office of Associate Superintendent of Academics and now the Vice President of EduGroup of PA. Elizabeth believes that success involves individuals being determined and passionate about what they do. She goes on to fundraising, finance, governance and strategic planning, board and organizational development, service learning and mentorship and international relations.
