This summer, escape the sweltering heat. Head to a place where the hum of your
air conditioner is replaced with the chatter of seagulls, where watching the mercury
rise gives way to wild moose sightings and where your ice chip cravings are satisfied
with something better — fresh lobster from the mid-afternoon boat.
Ignore Horace Greeley's "Go West" advice and head to Maine — the most Eastern

For those who choose to pull their rig to this out-of-the-way state, there are treasures
to be found in its many nooks and crannies. But don't worry- our most Northeastern
state offers plenty of wide-open roads . Some roads lead to the picturesque lighthouses,
the jagged coastline and the fresh catches of the Atlantic shore.
"We see a lot of RVs on the coastal routes, in the mountains and on Route 1, our main
highway," says State Rep. Chuck Kruger. "We are a pretty RV-friendly state. Our roads
