Black Parade

Beyonce released a track titled “ Black Parade ” on Juneteenth . The Houston singer touches on a variety of topics , but the first one that ’ s prevalent is her singing about going back to the south . This is essentially a firm statement from her saying that she wants to get back in touch with her roots . In the song , Beyonce also describes her support for black-owned businesses . African symbolism is also prevalent in this song . She shouts out the Egyptian Ankh symbol , and name-dropped Osun , a goddess of the Yoruba religion based in Nigeria . While she does spend a lot of time celebrating , she also digs deep into the significance of being black .
The message Beyonce is essentially trying to preach is that you being black alone is a protest . She wants us to remember the power

What We ’ re Listening To and beauty we have even through the midst of all the pain and heartbreak black people go through . She celebrates black-owned businesses because she understands that the success of black people is protesting the system . That ’ s what makes the message in this song is so powerful .
