4 . How can consumers be more conscious about purchasing sustainable , clean products ?
It ’ s wonderful that many consumers have become more conscious about what they apply to their skin by searching for sustainable beauty products . The use of safe , clean ingredients is critical ! My advice to consumers is to check if the brand supports the sustainability movement , avoids plastic packaging , or offers any type of recycling program . As our company grows , I ’ d love to implement a recycling program as well !
5 . Where are the trees planted , and who is planting them ?
At Botanical Republic , we care deeply about the planet , so we needed to create a business that gives back to nature . We decided to partner with One Tree Planted , a 501 ( c )( 3 ) dedicated to global reforestation . We worked with them to find a project that we felt would meet the greatest need . We determined that India was a great place to start , so currently , the trees donated by Botanical Republic are being planted in this area . We ’ d love to focus our efforts in North America for our next project , particularly on the west coast due to the recent outbreak of fires .
6 . Is clean beauty a sustainable and affordable way to live ?
The definition of clean beauty has become very broad . Some will consider a specific product under the umbrella of
“ clean beauty ” simply because it does not contain ingredients such as parabens and petroleum . I wouldn ’ t say all clean beauty is sustainable . Consumers should research how clean beauty brands resource their ingredients , what production method they use , and , most importantly , doublecheck the ingredients list . Look for certified organic ingredients and water replacements . Many brands use water as their main ingredient ; however , according to the United Nations ( UN ), water scarcity will be exacerbated due to increasing demand , climate change , and global pollution . We currently use hydrosols in our facial skincare line to help combat this issue , and we hope many brands will follow this step .
As far as affordability , unfortunately , clean beauty is not the most cost-effective option at this point because it requires more labor and some ingredients will cost more . However , in my opinion , it is worth it to know you ’ re helping Mother Earth .
7 . What is the most important message that Botanical Republic hopes to get across with its environmentally friendly products ?
What many people don ’ t realize is that our skin is our body ’ s biggest organ and , therefore , has one of the most essential roles . Our skin works as a barrier against infection , helps regulate body temperature , and permits touch , heat , and cold sensations . Therefore , it is important to us at Botanical Republic to focus on the health and well-being of our skin rather than just the cosmetic elements . When you begin to treat your skin as an organ , you will think twice about what you put on it . At Botanical Republic , our mission is to provide healthy and effective products that treat your skin and the environment with the respect it deserves .
Besides purchasing directly from the Botanical Republic , Hannah shared other tips consumers can use to keep their skincare products environmentally in check . “ My advice to consumers is to check if the brand is supporting the sustainability movement , avoiding plastic packaging , or offering any type of recycling program ,” she says . Botanical Republic writer Keri Cornachio offers more great tips for maintaining sustainable beauty on the Botanical Republic website ’ s blog .
Botanical Republic has created environmentally friendly products that are more beneficial to our skin than the products of many leading brands . Consumers can purchase handmade skincare containing zero toxins and feel good about helping the environment . “ By using sustainable beauty products ,” Hannah said , “ you help to eliminate these harmful products , protecting yourself and Mother Earth .”
