Candyman , while cinematic , covers issues that impact Black People all around the world . Issues of mental health due to systematic injustices and black brutality .
While Candyman is cinematic , it deals with issues that impact Black people all around the world . The film covers essential topics that need continued conversations , exploring the reality of gentrification , violence against Black people , structural challenges , and intergenerational racialized trauma from an actual Black perspective .
It ’ s no surprise to the world that none other than Jordan Peele , the mastermind behind the Get Out and Us films , would redo the 1992 hit film , originally written and directed by Bernard Rose , and add a more prevalent view of systematic racism and injustices . Jordan Peele ’ s take on Candyman brings forth the realities of blacks in the wake of the uprising of police brutality , suppression of blacks economically , and the mental toll it takes on the black race .
A must-see film , Candyman houses horror and an emotional thrill that is none other than the reality of a pandora box being opened . With this , we see the realism of the sickness , death , and evils released upon the world . Candyman ’ s traumas are the same as the psychological distress for many blacks that often goes untreated , which leads down a psychological path of consequences that often cause aggression and destruction .
Candyman is now available on-demand and on Pay-Per-View .
