Singer , songwriter , and producer Energii is set to release his debut single “ First Time ” as he finally steps into the spotlight on his own . Energii or as some know him as Eddie Rooks really perfected his craft as a musician playing at his home church in New Jersey . Some of the world ’ s most celebrated musicians / artists have gotten their start in the church and it ’ s clear that he is surely one to follow in their footsteps . The Newark , New Jersey native , who started playing drums at a young age , became a well-rounded musician as he learned to play the piano , bass , and guitar by his senior year in high school . Some of his earlier music influences included his mother Martha Rooks , Quincy Jones , Curtis Hudson , Stevie Wonder , Prince , George Clinton , Babyface , Fred Hammond , Kirk Franklin , CeCe Winans , Brandy , Timbaland , and Missy Elliott , so it only makes sense that he followed in some of the greatest footsteps . Energii is most known for his work as a producer-slash-musician with artists like Eric Hudson , Mario , Deborah Cox , Stacy Barthe , Corey “ Latif ” Williams , Antonique Smith , Cherri Dennis , Miesa , V . Bozeman , Kristinia DeBarge , and Pia Toscano . Now , with the release of his debut single “ First Time ”, it ’ s clear that the world is finally ready for more of what he has in store .
