“ Black Boys Recycle is a lifestyle brand committed to the repurposing of expired ideologies . A Brand that aims to serve the global community of Black and Brown people through unity and partnership .”

Black Boys Recycle ( BBR ), launched in June 2020 , is a non-profit organization that focuses on giving aid to communities that need it the most . Based in California , BBR mainly directs its efforts to Skidrow , an L . A . neighborhood known for having a significant homeless population . Many of their projects consist of providing meals , essential items , and funds to Skidrow residents while also involving young Black men and women in L . A . to drive the BBR initiative further .

Chris Rogers , former magazine COO and talent manager , created Black Boys Recycle as something that no one has ever seen before . “ BBR is a brand that takes the lifestyle that we have been subjected to and ridiculed for ,” he told ENSPIRE , “ and turns it into a lifestyle of repurposing things like luxury champagne bottles into luxury upcycled candles with eco-friendly wax ,” he said . That birthed Blax , or Bottles Left After the X ( the X stands for party , wedding , gathering , or any celebration ), Scents .
BBR L . A .’ s mission is to restore a sense of community by giving back to the people who feel the most disconnected . Its first “ activation ”, or philanthropic effort , took place last year in Skidrow , where BBR founders provided meals to the homeless . Then , keeping the momentum and at the height of the Black Lives Matter movement last summer , BBR hosted an activation in Bel Air called Lemons 2 Lemonade , during which they were able to raise the funds to give out over 1000 essential items to Skidrow residents . BBR will host its next activation , Big Love - A Day Of Hope , on February 14th to benefit the Union Rescue Mission .
