was a big deal and almost mandatory for most . There were not many local activities or events outside of sports , so we created our fun versions ! Although sports were a big deal in the city , there was much idle time to get involved in things that we shouldn ’ t be getting into . Racism was and still is a big deal there . A lot of it was not very overt when I was growing up . I didn ’ t realize the severity of it until I was no longer living there . It was my usual , so there was nothing to compare it to ; I just knew it didn ’ t feel right .
What was it like leaving your small hometown to attend college and then enlisting in the military ?

Were you always interested in health and fitness ?
I ’ ve always been involved in fitness , but I can ’ t say health was always at the forefront . Growing up in Mississippi , we ate good food ! But , there was nothing healthy about my Mom and Grandma ’ s cooking . The health part didn ’ t come to fruition until I moved to Atlanta and participated in fitness competitions .
Is there a meaning behind the brand ’ s name ?

What has been a significant health / fitness concern during this pandemic ?
The pandemic has caused the world to come to a halt , resulting in people being less active and eating more comfort foods . Because of the severity of the pandemic , people are forced to social distance , so gathering at a gym or facility is not as likely . In addition , the lockdown caused businesses to close , including fitness centers . This resulted in several psychological issues and severe fitness and health concerns .
The transition from leaving home and entering college and then the military was pretty smooth and exciting . After I graduated from high school , I left my home city to attend Mississippi State University , which was a little over an hour away . I was there for about two semesters before I enlisted in the US Air Force Reserves . Then , I left college for a semester and a summer to attend Boot Camp and Technical Training . Then , I returned to college to complete my degree while serving as an Air Force Reservist . I had to serve military duty one weekend out of every month in addition to two weeks out of the year . I did this up until I graduated from college . Then , I went full-time after college for about two years . From there , it was a back and forth on full-time orders , deployments , and various tours . I ’ m currently on an active duty tour .
What inspired you to go into the military ?
The main thing that inspired me to go into the military was to get away from my small state and have the opportunity to explore things that I hadn ’ t been able to explore growing up . There weren ’ t opportunities

According to Tate , people need to have self-love first , then set realistic goals to improve while being patient and consistent . “ Find your ‘ Why ’,” Tate said . “ With everything you do , have a purpose and hold yourself accountable to that purpose . If you need help , then seek it .”
As a leader , Tate is motivated by her end goal “ to stamp my name in the sand and leave a legacy for my family , and that starts with building a brand I can be proud to call my own .” She hopes that one day 8Figured will have a seat at the table with Nike , Adidas , Under Armor , and many others and become a household name .
