Lesley Bryant Puts a Spin on the Traditional Barber Shop

The Lady Clipper is Washington , D . C .’ s premier , all-inclusive , women-owned and operated barber shop . A former graphic designer , Lesley Bryant used her design skills to forge her path in the hair industry . Within the last two years , Lesley and her team of women barbers have opened their doors to many community members , D . C . artists , and patrons . As a result , the Lady Clipper Barber Shop was named one of the Best of D . C . in 2020 .
Lesley Bryant was tired of going to barber shops where women weren ’ t equally valued . So she took it upon herself to open a barber shop that doesn ’ t discriminate based on gender or sexual orientation . Lesley ’ s initiative has created a welcoming environment for people from all walks of life .
ENSPIRE Magazine spoke with Lesley about her inspiration and her journey with opening up the Lady Clipper Barber Shop .
