1.
Eat before the party.
Eating a light, healthy
snack before going to an
event will keep you from
arriving hungry and making
unhealthy food choices.
2. Don’t make it all about
food. Plan festive activities
and crafts to do during
gatherings instead of
focusing solely on a meal.
3. Bring a healthy dish. Many
people bring holiday
staples that tend to be high
in calories, sugar, and fat.
4. Sit away from the food.
Being within arms reach
of unhealthy appetizers
or desserts can lead to
mindless eating.
5. Be last in line for buffets.
A lot of the food will be
picked over and look less
appealing. It will also help
you avoid seconds since
most of the food will be
gone by the time you want
more.
6. Don’t drink your calories.
Most beverages,
alcoholic or non, contain
unnecessary calories that
can add up quickly.
7.
Maintain a normal exercise
routine. Exercising
regularly can help burn the
extra calories and manage
stress during this hectic
time of year.
8. Build fitness or physical
activity into your family
traditions. Before a holiday
meal, take a walk with
everyone or start up a flag
football game.
9. If you've eaten something
unhealthy one day, don't
consider that day entire
day a wash or just opt to
call it a "cheat day." Allow
yourself some treats
occasionally, but don't feel
like you can't make healthy
choices for the rest of the
day.
10. Be careful not to indulge
in things you normally
wouldn't or skip a workout
every day just because
it's the holiday season. A
couple days of that routine
can lead to habits that are
difficult to break come
New Year.

“Doctor Alfieri has been my cardiologist for the past 16
years. I can honestly say I would not be alive today if it
were not for him. In todays world of physicians, it’s hard
to find a doctor that is as dedicated to his patients as Dr.
Alfieri.”
