What is It?
Vitamin E is a blanket term for
eight different naturally occurring
nutrients collectively referred to as
“tocochromanols.” This fat-soluble
vitamin is found in many foods, fats,
and oils.
Health Benefits
Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that
helps prevent damage to the body cells.
Vitamin E is also important in helping
your body make red blood cells, and it
helps the body to use vitamin K.
Food Sources
Vitamin E can be found in wheat germ,
eggs, nuts, sunflower seeds, vegetable
oils, dark leafy vegetables, sweet
potatoes, asparagus, and avocados.
Summer Breakfast Bowl
3 ¾ cups water
1 cup old-fashioned
rolled oats
⅔ cup toasted wheat
germ
¼ tsp. salt
1 ½ cups sliced banana
1 cup blueberries
3 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
1.
Combine the first 4 ingredients in a medium
saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring
occasionally.
2. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 6 minutes
or until thick.
3. Divide oatmeal evenly among 3 bowls.
4. Top each serving with ½ cup banana, 1/3 cup
blueberries, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, and 1
teaspoon butter.
