Currently more than one third of the American population is obese. Obesity impacts both the obese person’s health and the whole nation. Obesity has been directly linked to increases in many other horrible diseases including diabetes, heart disease, strokes and cancer. Obesity is a bad thing

for our country economically because it is adding hundreds of billions of dollars to our nation’s health care costs.

To reverse and improve this alarming trend towards a fatter, less healthy, more costly America obesity must be stopped no matter what it takes. In almost

America, obesity must be stopped no matter what it takes. In almost every single research project done on obesity it was found that obesity rates in the future will become alarmingly higher with some forecasting that nearly 50% of America will be obese by 2030. It was also found that obesity will continue to create huge increases our health care costs if we do not stop this dangerous trend. The increased costs to our nation come even as our country piles up trillions and trillions of dollars of total debt, and is another factor that threatens our financial future.

Obesity in America should and can be corrected. We can start by doing things that make people aware of obesity and whether they are obese or not. Things such as nutrition awareness and advertisement can help to prevent obesity.
