Littering, in my opinion, is ruining our environment by the second especially with cigarettes. I’ll be taking a walk around the park and everywhere I look, there are cigarettes on the ground. That’s when I’ll think to myself, “Aren’t there designated areas where your used cigarette butts are supposed to go into like the ash bin? People, this is common sense.” This doesn’t only happen in the park, it happens everywhere. I’ve seen cigarettes lying around in my neighborhood, at the airport, and even at the grocery store! We, as people, could help our environment by building more ash trays, and just adding more trash cans to public areas.
Taking a jog around my neighborhood is one of the best ways I can escape my stress. However, lately, I have been running into more and more trash. I have bumped into random plastic items, napkins, and even scraps of already eaten food. Not only that, but one of my neighbors just left their trash on the side of the road like they were expecting someone to pick it up but the weekly trash pick-up had just been the day before. When I went back the next week, the bag was still lying there. Things like that outrage me because it is the person’s responsibility to pick up after themselves.
Littering is a main factor in the death of many sea animals and also in sicknesses in all living things. To stop it, you must always properly throw away your trash. Never leave your trash lying in the middle of the street. You may also recycle products made out of paper, plastic, and aluminum as well as many other materials. If you just so happen to observe a person littering, you should always politely ask the person to stop and throw their trash in the trash can. Last but not least, you can always prevent more littering by picking up any trash you may happen to see. However, always think about your safety before you touch a mysterious product. But don’t forget, go green!
