BLACK THURSDAY? (CONTINUED)

What is the true meaning of Thanksgiving? Everyone should know, for it is taught early in elementary school that it is a time of thankfulness of what we already have, no matter what situation everybody is in. Every year in America, right after a nice meal with families and friends, millions of citizens hurriedly rush to the nearest department store to buy that new television set, or the latest Apple product. Many times, customers get violent and police are called to keep the environment safe and calm. Don’t get me wrong, everybody loves to save 50% off of that dream holiday item; I just think another time of the year, where it isn’t right after a time of thankfulness, would be more appropriate for this occasion. If Black Friday actually started on Friday, instead of Thursday, or even no Black Friday at all, then I believe it will solve many problems and violent acts.

Although Black Friday is starting earlier, numerous American residents have become less and less interested in this shopping bonanza. They have either grown tired of waiting in lines for ages, or, like me, have seen the irony of the entire thing. Perhaps, one day, everybody won’t be so crazy about it and just enjoy a warm, peaceful holiday meal with the people they love.
