I am conflicted on the topic of grffiti. I believe that graffiti on private property, that is not owned by the artist, is a crime, and the vandals that do that should be prosecuted. However, when graffiti is on public property and is not defacing a mural or other form of art, then it should be accepted, but not encouraged. The idea of legal graffiti walls are awesome because they let local artists come out and paint without doing it illegally.

Graffiti artists, are artists that wish to show their passion for art and wish to rebel at the same time. Although some just want to deface the property of another. There should be more legal graffiti walls for those graffiti artists that do not wish to deface the property of another person. For those who do want to vandalize should be prosecuted and sent to jail or fined.

I believe the punishment for graffiti is just, except for the graffiti on unused or broken-down buildings. If an artist wants to paint let them paint on the buildings that aren’t going to be used again. For the other graffitists, the punishment fit the crime perfectly because the private property of someone should not be defaced unless openly accepted. Graffiti artists’ art should be accepted and marveled, not removed if it on acceptable property.
