An interview with Mrs Torer, our headmistress
Mrs Torer, we congratulate you on
your new position of a headmisstress
and we would like to ask you a few
questions.
1: Why have you decided to become a
headmistress?
Mrs.Torer:
Beacause
it
was
an
opportunity and a challenge and I had the
support of my colleagues.
2: What is the procedure – how were you
chosen?
Mrs.Torer: You must be highly educated,
know the system, you must apply on
competition and be elected by the council
of teachers, the council of parents and the
school board.
3: How does it feel to be a headmistress?
Mrs.Torer: I feel happy, proud, serious
but it is a great responsibility, too.
4: You used to work as a teacher in lower
grades – what is more interesting ?
Mrs.Torer: I don't look at it that way- I
think teaching is a „vocation“ and you are
very proud of your students when they are
recognised.
5: When did you start working as a
teacher?
Mrs.Torer: In 1988.
6: What school did you first teach at ?
Mrs.Torer: Milan Špalj primary school in
Rudeš for one year and then Tituš.
7: Was it difficult to leave your class?
Mrs.Torer: My last generation were third
graders - it was, of course, very difficult to
leave them, but I still keep in touch with
them and their parents.
8: What does an ordinary day of a
headmistress look like?
Mrs.Torer: When I come to school I have
to check everything, answer all the mail,
see what is going on, sign the papers
(bills), see the registers and teachers'
books, see that everything is in accordance
with the law. I also talk with parents and
students and with the professional staff.
9: What are your plans for the future of
this school?
Mrs.Torer: To open the school towards
students and parents, to introduce more
activities and implement the reforms in
the curriculum, school radio, students'
web page, to redecorate the “old“ part of
the school building...
10: Shall we soon have e-registers at our
school?
Mrs.Torer: They will probably be
introduced in autumn - every teacher will
only be able to see their own subject and I
think that will make the grading system
more fair.
11: Will the school have Wireless internet ?
Mrs.Torer: Yes, but at the moment we
lack the funds.
12: Will new subjects be introduced?
Mrs.Torer: Yes, computer classes from
the first grade, new foreign language –
French.
13. Will paper notebooks be replaced with
tablets and laptops?
Mrs.Torer: That would be interesting to
see, but it is also v
