Maths evening in our school
This year's Maths evening was really fun
but also an educational experience.
It started at 6 p.m. and ended at around
8 p.m. I don't know what lower grades
presented because I didn't have time to
even step in their hallway, but the
presentation of higher grades was
amazing. Seventh and eighth grades (some
even with parents) were doing sudoku,
memory, fractions and decimal numbers,
playing dice games and other interesting
games with numbers. In the only game
which wasn't with numbers you had to put
the pieces of carton in order so they looked
like one of the shapes drawn on the paper.
For every solved exercise or problem you
would get one of nine points on your
passport. When you collected all of them,
you would get a candy. The passport was
actually a piece of paper with nine squares
on one side and maths symbols on the
other side. There were also students who
were taking photos of the event. A lot of
children came with their parents because
Maths evening was meaningful and
interesting for everybody.
It wasn't organised only in our school.
Many other schools had this exciting event
in their program. But the main purpose of
the Maths evening was that people find
out how maths can be fun and easy
although you had to do a lot of thinking if
you wanted to solve any of those problem
exercises. You could even take some
papers home.
The teachers were there too. They were
helping children and showing them the
results and I think that they also had fun.
