"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world"

- Nelson Mandela

Who am I?

Asking a person ‘who they are’ is surprisingly, a very difficult question to answer. When people define themselves, the list usually begins at age, study or career status, where they sit in their family hierarchy and their likes and dislikes. My response is quite different.

At my most basic level I am a woman, I am a daughter, a sister, a friend and a human. I come with experiences and memories that shape the person I am today, and who I will be in the future. At present the question of ‘who am I?’ is extremely important, as I am in training to become a teacher. Being an educator is a career that comes with a significant amount of responsibility, and it is a career where these questions of who I am become vital to my success and the success of my students. My experience in English eduaction as a learner has had an influence on my teaching, and this magazine is an exploration of how my past and my future in English education will meet.

The quote above comes from Nelson Mandela. He describes education as power, and that's what I aim to bring to the classroom. I want to demonstrate how education empowers people. My identity as a person will be reflected in the way I teach, and this magazine will take you through my journey- from where I've been, to where I'm headed!
