“As an English major at Michigan State University, I found my voice.  From my first semester Creative Writing course, to my summer abroad studying Shakespeare in London, I was challenged to ‘join the conversation,’ think critically, form carefullyconsidered opinions, and craft winning arguments on and off paper. In my life after college, I was surprised to learn that the ability to write well is considered an extraordinary skill in the workforce, and often is the most sought-after quality in job applicants among employers. In my career, not a day goes by where I do not closely read and analyze a variety of texts, draft documents that explain complex theories, or solve problems effectively. I’d encourage anyone to become an English major to hone their skills and find their voice, as I did.” – heila Eddy ’09, Attorney S Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge, PC For more information on the English program please visit: Ruth Mowry english.msu.edu/ undergraduate [email protected] Undergraduate Advisor Stephen Deng Associate Chair of Undergraduate Studies [email protected] Department of English Michigan State University Wells Hall C614 619 Red Cedar Road East Lansing, MI 48824 (517) 355-7570
