JOHN:Dear guests, Welcome to our show. Today, We are really excited because
we have guests from all over the world and we are going to talk about our
national festivals. We have a guest from Turkey.
ALİ: Hi, everyone. I am so happy to be here.
JOHN: Ali, Let’s talk about your national festivals. I want to talk about National
Sovereignty and Children’s Day.
ALİ: It’s our national festival. It is the 23rd of April.
JOHN: How do you celebrate this festival?
ALİ: We decorate our classrooms and schools with Turkish flags. We read
poems, sing children’s songs and dance. We walk at the parade and We are really
happy because This day is a gift from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
JOHN: Thank you, Ali. Here is the guest from China. He is Jackie.
JACKIE: Hello everyone.
JOHN: What is your national festival?
JACKIE: It is Chinese New Year. It is called the Spring Festival.
JOHN:Why is it called The Spring Festival?
JACKIE:Because it starts from the beginning of Spring and Marks the end of
winter.
JOHN: How do you celebrate?
JACKIE: We decorate or houses and streets. Old people give red envelopes and
gifts to the children. You can see fireworks and firecrackers. In many Chinese
cities, you can see traditional performances such as dragon dances and lion
dances. Red is the main color of the festival. City parks and temple fairs are the
places to go for this.
