The Mérida cable car has a 12.5 kilometer distance and reaches an altitude of 4,765 meters above sea level, it is also the most modern in the world due to its unique characteristics and the fact that it was inaugurated in April 2016, after 6 years of modernization, which began in 2010 during the government of President Hugo Chávez.
This process of "modernization" became the construction of a completely new cable car system with an investment of 106 million euros, which included the installation of new guayas, new wagons, towers and security devices.
