Computational fluid dynamics is a tool used to find solutions to many contemporary issues . With regards to energy harvesting , wind induced vibration can be transformed from something undesirable to a source of energy . Studies have shown that structures that are susceptible to galloping can induce strong vibration over a wider range of wind speeds , thus favouring energy harvesting . important consideration in light detection and ranging ( LIDAR ) applications .
