The new VA San Diego Facility is an outpatient clinic that consolidates and expands the Veterans Affairs existing medical space in San Diego . It offers a wide range of services , including primary care , integrated mental health , laboratory , dental , audiology , and optometry .
The project involved the renovation of 100,00 SF of an existing bank vault building , with the addition of two wings totaling 35,0000 SF . P2S provided mechanical , electrical , plumbing and technology design as well as construction support and commissioning services .
Notably , the P2S Technology Team was challenged in implementing design solutions for this project which bridged the client needs of internal IT functions and leased tenants in the building while protecting cyber security of data and segregation of systems where required by the federal VA IT standards . We accomplished this by utilizing the low-voltage / signal floor topology to create a cabling pathway to each IDF room while following all the required system details and expanding routing for building services options for the network racking and equipment . With strategic room placements and cable coverage overlays , P2S was able to increase efficiency on the project low voltage systems and minimize space layout impacts . For the security systems , P2S designed updated and renovated access control , surveillance , intrusion detection , duress , and gate intercom systems .
