GRADUATE WORK-READY
Connect with industry on campus, undertake an internship or enhance your professional skills in the way that works best for you. Whether you want to unlock your leadership potential or start thinking like an entrepreneur, you’ ll have access to programs that leave you prepared for leadership, success and – most importantly – life.
Student Leaders Network( SLN)
SLN is a one-year program that prepares you to be an engineering leader. You’ ll meet industry professionals through workshops, industry site visits, networking evenings, and a student-organised leadership summit. This experience will help you to develop critical employability skills, such as leadership, teamwork and communication, that are highly regarded by employers.
Design competitions
Engineering competitions are great opportunities to hone your skills, gain real-world exposure, and may well be a stepping stone to greater things. Our students have participated in numerous design competitions, most notably Shell Eco-marathon Asia, Thailand SAE Auto Challenge-Student Formula, National Chem-E-Car Malaysia, GreenTech Youth Innovation Challenge, and Monash University Australia’ s Warman Student Design and Build competitions.
Industry engagement
Our engineering disciplines are supported by dedicated industry advisory panels, which provide high-level input on engineering education in Malaysia and on emerging and anticipated industry needs. Many of our students’ final-year and research projects are conducted in collaboration with industry partners, as well as internships and work placements. Industry leaders also contribute through career talks, guest lectures and seminars.
Research opportunities
Experience a genuine research environment through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. You’ ll learn from lecturers who are leading researchers in their field, and acquire knowledge and skills that’ ll prepare you for your final year project and higher degree studies.
Work experience
Classrooms provide the foundation for your engineering journey. Work experience amplifies your learning and hones your hands-on skills. As an Engineering student, you’ ll go on a 12-week internship after your third year. You’ ll enhance your technical and professional skills, build industry connections and acquire skills that will give you an edge in the competitive employment market.
Volunteering
Engineers Without Borders is an international volunteer organisation that works with developing communities to achieve sustainable, responsible and economical engineering solutions. Our student chapter is involved in a wide range of projects that you can be a part of. It’ s a unique opportunity for you to make a positive impact on your local community and to develop important skills such as leadership, teamwork, time management and project management.
Our students have previously participated in:
