Finding God in the Waiting

Lydia Gard , OMS Communications
Isaiah 55:8
For my thoughts are not your thoughts , neither are your ways my ways , declares the LORD . For as the heavens are higher than the earth , so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts .
Waiting is one of the most universal and difficult experiences .
Yet , there is power in the in-between times . A unique surrender comes when we can do nothing but step back in trust and hopefulness that the Lord has the best plan .
We wish away our waiting because it is uncomfortable , dark , sad , angry , and uncertain .
We tend to ask why what we want will not come or why what we do not want will not leave .
All the while , we miss who remains sovereign , faithful , and good . We live as if God is far off and unaware when , in reality , he is the closest thing to us . Not only does he know exactly what we are waiting for , he also intimately knows and orchestrates his grandest timing .
May we allow the aches of our waiting to remind us of what we ultimately wait for : our heavenly home . May we run to the Lord in our every moment of waiting , clinging to him and to the assurance that his ways are perfect . His timing always proves best , for our growth and for his glory !
